Welcome to Ardenwald

Of Everlasting Autumn

Located in the northeastern corner of the kingdom, Ardenwald is revered for its serenity and grace. It is the land of Everlasting Autumn, where the wind carries with it red, brown, and golden leaves that line the pathways.

The people of Ardenwald are proud of their customs and traditions, and many spiritual individuals and clans practice the ancient ways of the Sun, Moon, and Star.

The People of Ardenwald

In Ardenwald, you will encounter a diverse array of beings. There are fewer humans here than in Bloomheim and Midhaven, but they have mostly established their homes in the region's main cities. The elves are abundant in Ardenwald, inhabiting the major villages and cities, especially the Glimmer elves and Eventide elves, where their faith in the celestial bodies is evident.

Glimmer Elf

The Loomunarians are a curious kind of people who either dedicate their lives to the study of magic and mysteries of the land or travel across it. You are most likely to find them as librarians and scholars in the cities or as adventurers accompanied by other peoples.

Like the Nomadrel, who are known for their travels! Most settle for a longer period in Ardenwald, with large caravans and small outposts popping up around the groves and along the roads.

In a select few caverns and underground villages, the Lichenling of the Luminous variance dwell. Along the northern parts of the region, the Himmelkin are once again represented, specifically the Petalsong tribes.

Regional variants of the Effigy can also be found here; some are adventurers or workers for hire.

Amberfall

This land of endless opportunity, a plethora of cultures, and an array of different languages is none other than the home of Amberfall, a town steeped in tradition, and where the revered Castle Arden, Royal House Dahliana, stands proudly as a symbol of history and grandeur.

It is here, in the heart of Amberfall, that many of the town's residents find solace and comfort, for it is filled with a deep-seated love for its people and a commitment to preserving its culture and heritage.

Important Sights

Petals Pass is the first stop for many travelers coming from Bloomheim or Midhaven. One can find Maple Monastery, a place shrouded in mysticism, where monks and clerics are taught the ways of the Moon Maiden.

Further into Ardenwald lies Farwood Town, the last bastion of safety before the treacherous, arid prairies and deserts of Azula. Zinnia, the bridge between Ardenwald and Withergard, is known for its sudden shifts in weather, and its inhabitants are known to be particularly hardy.

Life In Ardenwald

Ardenwald, with its stunning natural landscapes and diverse wildlife, stands as a testament to the sheer beauty and majesty of nature. Its residents, with their unwavering spirit and love for the land, contribute greatly to the unique charm and character of Ardenwald.

Their commitment to preserving the natural beauty and integrity of this place is truly inspiring.

Editor’s Note: How Did I Create This Map?

I create the maps using the online tool Inkarnate. I'm not affiliated with or sponsored by Inkarnate, so everything I say is my honest opinion of the tool.

I found it to be the best for creating both regional and world maps and battle maps, with the additional help of Photoshop and Figma to make them look older and worn. I prepared the file for printing and made sure the squares were correct according to my minis.

If you want to find inspiration for existing battle maps or try your hand at creating your very own maps, I highly recommend Inkarnate!
